ABOUT NATUROPATHY & YOGA
Naturopathy Yoga & Yoga Therapy

Naturopathy is a system of medicine, which emphasizes on positive health. It is an integrated system of medicine, which brings together all the drugless/ non-pharmalogical therapies for attaining this goal.

It believes in purifying the body and mind from impurities at all levels, thus enabling the immune system to cope with the environment. The concept of holistic health or treating the body as a whole (using natural tools like water, earth, fire, air and ether) is given prime importance. This is achieved by integrating various natural therapies and propagates the theory achieved by integrating various natural therapies and propagates the theory of RETURN TO NATURE i.e., life style correction and stress management. Various drugless complimentary medical sciences such as hydrotherapy, massage therapy, mud therapy, fasting therapy, nutrition and dietetics, chromo therapy, magneto therapy, yoga therapy, acupressure, acupuncture, Chiropractice, osteopathy, aromatherapy, psychotherapy, physiotherapy, exercise therapy, reiki and pranic healing ettc, are used.

Naturopathy medicine by virtue of its training of individuals towards natural way of life has emerged as leading system of drugless medicine. Internationally this is recognized as a Holistic Medicine & booming as an important part of Integrative Medicine. The emphasis has been on psychosomatic ailments (based on psyco-neuro-immunology concept) this approach is being investigated and explored for all other disorders. Its natural approach gives a very safe method of preventing/ treating/ rehabilitating the individual with almost zero ill effects. It also has no interference with existing drugs consumed by the individual & hence goes hand in hand with any system of Medicine.

Currently naturopathy is being academically inducted as a bachelor degree programme of five & half years. - Bachelor of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences (B.N.Y.S.) in India.

Unlike other Indian systems of medicine courses, this course has an advantage in having basic sciences similar to that of modern medicine. Strong foundation in the form of basic sciences has not only allowed students to make smarter attempt to understand the clinical theories of Naturopathy but also highlighted the evidence based clinical practice.

World over there is an aggressive recognition of potential in this system and at the same time the need for rigorous scientific evaluation of health practice used traditionally.

This has lead to significant scientific authentication of the effectiveness backed by worlds leading Medical Institutions, organisations & even by the Governments acknowledged by National Institute of Health, USA, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India to name a few.

Yoga an ancient Indian science accepted universally, but followed individually, has gained ascendancy today all over the world due to its individualistic nature of practice and its effects being manifested from individual level to community, society and at he universal level. Yoga can be defined in numerous ways but the most recent view says “Yoga is a methodological effort towards self perfection by development of potentialities hidden in the individual”. It is a process by which the limitations and imperfections can be washed away resulting in perfect, intelligent perfect being.

Yoga promotes positive health (Prevention) - The definition of health emphasizes on a specific word “Well Being” The well being here is the sense of perfect positive health. Feeling of wellness and being in that position and maintaining the condition of being well. The word positive health also implies the same thing- being in a perfect and balanced state of health. Thus the promotion of this kind of health status is relevantly done by yoga at all levels (physical, mental, social, spiritual planes of being. It harmonizes the mind and more exactly the conscious, subconscious and unconscious nature of being.

Yoga therapy - Integrated approach of yoga therapy (IAYT) explains the role of yoga based on psychosomatic theory of disease and its management. The five planes of existence or the koshas- the panchakosha theory and their wellbeing. The origin of disease being in the level of manomaya kosha(mind) and manifesting in the level of annamaya kosha(physical state) is dealt by yoga in a very affective maner by acting upon the manomaya kosha. It balances the manomaya kosha and pranamaya kosha(mental and pranic state) and thus physical state is spontaneously balanced. From here, one can easily progress to the vijnanamaya and anandamaya koshas of existence.Yoga by virtue of its effect on all planes of being can effectively correct the lifestyle.

This is done by interventions at all levels of Human existence:
1. Anandamaya Kosha- Recognition of state of perfect health. (Spirituality & Happiness)
2. Vijnanamaya Kosha– Health Education: Notional Correction (Intellectual)
3. Manomaya Kosha- State of gratitude and lack of disturbances. (Mental & emotional Health)
4. Pranamaya Kosha - Regular breath and balanced energy levels.
5. Annamaya Kosha – Asana, kriyas, awareness (Physical Health)

Yoga establishes the body and its health in a perfect balanced state in all the planes of being and hence prevents the occurrence of any diseases or disturbances.

Tremendous scientific advancement, world over by physiologists, Neurophysiologist, Neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, general physicians in evaluating yoga & its benefits leading to knowledge in understanding as a safe & effective system of healing.
